"Sunday, October, 21st 1492. At 10 o'clock, we arrived at a cape of the island, and anchored." This quote made me confused. We celebrate Christopher Columbus day on October 12th not the 21st. Columbus said he came on the 21st so why don't we celebrate it on the 21st?

The Story of the Times
This story talks about how American became America. It all started when Christopher Columbus came to North America in 1492. But American already had several Native American tribes settled through out the continent. We do not know when the first American settles but we know that the natives have been here for about 12,000 to 70,000 years ago. One thing we know is that the Native Americans usually greeted the Europeans in a friendly manner. They welcomed them as friends. A few years later in 1620, the pilgrims sailed from England and landed in Plymouth, Massachusetts. Another name for pilgrims was "Puritan" , which meant the were into church and followed the rules of the church strictly. The pilgrims left England because they lost hope in trying to purify the church. Native Americans greeted them and soon they were great friends. This is what cause Thanksgiving to occur. In the 1700's, the Protestant group was forming. The Protestants protested against the church and what rules were right or wrong. The Great Awakening then occurred in 1720. this was when people tried to convert Protestants back into Puritans. In 1619 the first black slaves came to America to be sold into slavery. Most of the people who owned slaves were part of the church of England (Protestant). By 1750 Puritanism was declined everywhere. Back in the day Native Americans couldn't write so they couldn't write stories. Natives would dance, sing, act, and draw out their stories so they could express whats going on.

Hey! My names Keri. I'm 16 and attend SMH in lynn. I'm going into my junior year there. Currently I work at Superior Roast Beef in Lynn. I play 3 sports: soccer, softball, and track. In soccer I am a goalie and play for St. Mary's and Lynn. My Lynn team went 6-0, we clintched first and went to playoffs. I play softball for Lynn and I pitch, play second and third base. For track, I jump hurdles, run a relay, and throw javaline. Besides all that I love to dance, sing, and act. I do plays twice a year to help raise money. I have so many friends and I love hanging out with all of them. Friends and family mean everything to me. When I graduate from high school and to go with a career, I hope to either be an actress or a elementary school teacher. Well I'm off this. Byee (:
